REFUGI DE SANT MIQUEL |

In 1972, the board of directors obtained permission to reconstruct a ruin. The building was located on a foothill of the "Serra de Llancers" mountain range, in the municipal area of Els Hostalets d'en Bas, at a height of 980 metres, and the idea was to convert it into a mountain refuge for the association. The refuge was opened in the same year, and was subject to further improvements in 1974. In 1986, work on the roof of the building, which the Group had then purchased, was finally completed. Reconstruction and improvements have been carried out thanks to the co-operation and efforts of members, staff and volunteers. Recently, various projects have been carried out to facilitate living conditions in the refuge thanks to the generous co-operation of the "Caixa de Girona Foundation". There are plans to change the fence which surrounds the building, and to restore the inside of the refuge, especially the sleeping area, to serviceable conditions so that visitors to the building are ensured an enjoyable stay.
The refuge of Sant Miquel de Falgars has room for 20 people, and is free for members. Groups and non-members can also use the refuge by contacting
the head office. |
