The GEiEG sports centre at Palau Sacosta is the latest addition to the association's facilities. In terms of cost and size, this centre is the most important, as the centre is located in a wooded area, notable for its natural beauty, on the outskirts of Girona.
In 1980, the board of directors purchased 17 hectares of land in the area of Palau Sacosta. Twenty years later, the President of the Catalan Government, Jordi Pujol, laid the first stone of the future sports complex. In 1988, the association issued debentures for the construction of the facilities. In 1994, the Group owned a 400-metre eight-lane running track, made with the latest construction materials, as well as annexing buildings. Construction on the services building and the site of the climbing wall began later. There is also a throwing area, a rugby pitch, a football field and an athletics ground.
The building and its playing fields were finally opened in 1998. Jogging and mountain bike circuits had already been constructed in the surrounding wooded areas. The mountaineering, athletics and rugby sections are located in this section.
